4 Ways to Wash Different Fruits and Vegetables

While we continue to take extra precaution when it comes to the surfaces and objects we come into contact with, it’s important to remember that the COVID virus can also survive on the surfaces of uncooked food like fruits and vegetables. This is why it’s important to make sure that you wash your produce thoroughly with a natural cleanser before consuming them to make sure all the bacteria is washed off and do away with just rinsing with water alone.

There are different ways to wash different produce. Here’s a brief guide in cleansing different fruits and vegetables

1. Leafy Greens

Soak your leafy vegetables in a large bowl containing a mixture of water and a drop of natural-based cleanser and leave for one minute. Rinse and repeat until the water clears up.

2. Root Crops

Scrub root crops with your natural-based cleanser under running water. Repeat this until it’s completely free from dirt and  sand.

3. Sturdy Fruits and Vegetables

When it comes to sturdy fruits like cucumber, apple, and string beans, rub them with your natural-based cleanser under running water until it’s free from grease and dirt.

4. Soft Fruits and Vegetables

Soak soft fruits and vegetables like tomatoes and berries in a large bowl containing a mixture of water and a drop of natural-based cleanser for 1 minute. Afterwards, gently massage ensuring that the fruits don’t get bruised while all sides are cleansed. Rinse and repeat until the water clears up.

Rinsing with water and a natural wash is more preferable and safe over washing with just water. A natural wash that is mild and non-toxic is especially important since its residues can be consumed by you and your baby. We recommend going for natural cleansers that have edible formula. When it comes to the objects your baby comes into contact with, it’s important to also make sure that the products you use to clean these objects are safe. As parents we should always make sure that there is No Compromise too when it comes food sanitation
