Essential Baby Oral Care Tips for No Compromise Parents

As a parent, you want the best for your child. You want to provide them with the best nutrition, the best education and most of all, the best oral healthcare. Good oral hygiene habits should start from an early age and parents should take it upon themselves to ensure their children’s teeth remain healthy and strong for years to come.

Visit the Dentist

To start, make sure your child visits the dentist regularly. It’s recommended that children visit the dentist once every six months, and sometimes even more frequently if they’re at a higher risk of dental decay or other oral health problems. Additionally, make sure to teach your child proper brushing and flossing techniques. Make sure they brush their teeth twice a day, morning and night, and floss once a day.

Choose your tooth gel

When it comes to brushing, make sure to use an age-appropriate toothpaste or kids tooth gel. Baby toothpaste should be used until your child is at least 2 years old, and then a kid's toothpaste should be used until they’re at least 6 years old.

As per the suggestion of dentists, fluoride toothpaste should not be used on children under the age of 2 since they are unable to spit it out. Fluoride is beneficial in moderation and at the appropriate developmental stage, but not during infancy. Start your child on fluoride-toothpaste, such as Smiles Organic & Natural Tooth Gel Apple Flavor, and switch to fluoride toothpaste when your dentist recommends it or when your child is around 2 years old. Discuss your child's dental care needs with your dentist or pediatrician to determine the best time to switch to the recommended 1,000-1,500ppm fluoride toothpaste.

Fix the diet

It’s also essential to limit sugary and acidic drinks and snacks. Too much sugar and acid can lead to tooth decay, so make sure your child is only having healthy snacks and drinks. Encouraging your child to drink plenty of water throughout the day can also help to flush away food particles and bacteria.

Be the Example

Finally, one of the most important things you can do is lead by example. Make sure you brush your teeth twice a day and floss once a day. Show your child that brushing and flossing is important and make it a family event. Make it fun by playing music or having a toothbrushing competition.

By following these essential tooth tips, you can help ensure your child’s teeth stay healthy and strong for years to come. Make sure to use the right toothpaste, limit sugary and acidic drinks and snacks, and lead by example. With these tips, your child will have a healthy, beautiful smile for years to come.
